Since inception CRPF has emerged as a formidable and
dependable force in the country. Particularly in its
role against terrorism and insurgency. Established
in 1939 by the British to assist the crowns
representative in the princely states in maintaining
public order with a strength of one battalion.
Today CRPF has grown in to a giant of 213
Battalions. This force has given an impeccable
amount of performance in fighting subversive and
insidious elements in maintenance of internal
security of our country under most difficult
situation. The force has shown its mettle on number
of occasion. The CRPF troops gave a bold account of
itself at Hot Spring on 21st October 1959 while
checking Chinese advancement. In 1965 two coys of
CRPF repulsed the full brigade attack of Pakistan
army at Sardar Post in Runn of Kutch. Force gave a
good account of its performance during militancy in
Punjab and lately avoiding Fidayeen Attacks at
Parliament in 2001 and in Ayodhya Shrine in 2005.
1st Bn “The Mother Battalion” of the force presently
deployed at Mizoram has unparallel records of
dedication and services. The unit has earned for the
valour of its men and for the professionalism and
dedication that they have displayed in dealing with
various situation with controlling of Hur trouble in
1942-44, in merging of small states after
independence, in controlling disturbance after the
partition of country, in suppressing the revolt of
communists in Nizam States of Hyderabad, great
sacrifice at Hot Spring in 1959, and on many
occasion during deployment at J&K, Punjab and with
North Eastern States of the country.
Though the primary duties of the force is the
maintenance of internal security, the CRPF unit is
also giving emphasis on “CIVIC ACTION PROGRAMME”
which aims at helping the citizens and create
goodwill, making cordial and healthy
relations/understanding between civilians and CRPF.
As a part of civic action programme the unit 1st Bn,
CRPF is going to organize a football tournament at
Zemabawk Playground with the help of Zemabawk games
and sports association. The tournament commencing
w.e.f. 23-3-2010 to 26-03-2010. Fourteen teams of
Zemabawk locality will participate in that
tournament. In second phase from 27-03-20120 this
unit will distribute computers, books with
bookshelf, medicines with first aid box to the
Schools at Aizawl and at Coy locations of unit at
Chawngte, Distt – Lawngtlai and at Tuirial, Distt –
Kolasib.
